Join us for an exciting 3-day kayaking tour designed for adventure seekers ready to explore the stunning shores, ice formations, and marine life of Prince William Sound. You will paddle through the ice at Columbia Glacier and into the serene bays surrounding Glacier Island. Novice and beginner paddlers are welcome!
Day 1: Meet us in Valdez at our shop in the morning for a safety briefing and orientation. From there, you will board our water taxi for a scenic cruise to Heather Bay, home to the impressive Columbia Glacier, the largest tidewater glacier in Prince William Sound. Once at the glacier, we'll explore the floating icefield and towering icebergs before reaching a secluded moraine with stunning views. As we paddle back, we'll look for marine mammals like harbor seals, sea otters, and possibly orcas. That night, we’ll camp in Heather Bay and enjoy delicious meals prepared by our guides.
Day 2: After our first night camping, we head towards Glacier Island. With the Columbia Glacier behind us, we make a two-mile crossing to the island, where we find ancient rainforest and icebergs along the shore. The north side offers many inlets, bays, hiking trails, and beach-combing opportunities. We may climb a ridge for stunning views of Naked Island, the Columbia Glacier, and the snow-covered peaks of Montague Island. Your guides will prepare a delicious meal before we settle in for the evening.
Day 3: You will start your adventure early on the final day, heading to Bull Head to observe a colony of Stellar Sea Lions as they feed, fight, swim, and rest. While there, watch for puffins and cormorants in the nearby caves. After a lunch break at a beautiful beach, we’ll hike through the rainforest and then explore Chamberlain Bay before returning to Valdez by water taxi.
